Like every year, this year also the Punya Tithi of our founder Geeta Didi was celebrated with utmost reverence and devotion on 3rd August in the institute.

An inter-school “bhajan” (devotional song) competition was organized for the occasion, in which a large number of schools from the district participated enthusiastically. The atmosphere became imbued with spirituality and devotion as students presented melodious hymns dedicated to divine love and values. Renowned singer Pandit Alok Bhatt (who is also an alumnus of Bal Mandir) and Shri Ramesh Mewal were present as judges for the event.

A special highlight was the presence of Shri Jai Singh Saini, a senior alumnus who had studied at Bal Mandir Primary School in 1954 (two years from its inception); he shared his memories of student life spent with "Badi Didi" (Smt. Gita Bajaj) in deeply moving words. He recounted how Didi, single-handedly and despite a lack of resources, laid the foundation of the institute to ignite the spark of education among children from underprivileged sections of society, and described the struggles she faced in securing the necessary facilities for Bal Mandir. He fondly recalled the time Didi took a select group of students and teachers to Delhi to meet the country's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru—affectionately known as "Chacha Nehru."

Prizes and certificates were awarded to all winners and participants as a token of encouragement and appreciation.
