Our first Annual Day...

When Late Geeta Bajaj established the school in July, 1952, she aptly named it "Bal Mandir Happy School". Soon, in its first year itself, the 5 kids with whom she started it, grew to be near a hundred, which was extremely heartening and allowed he and her team members' spirits to soar...

When it was time to celebrate its first ever annual School Day, she could think of none else except the lady who had extended her a lot of moral support in her noble venture, the Maharani of Jaipur, Mrs. Gayatri Devi, as the chief guest for the occasion. It was indeed the Maharani, who was also the Chairman of the Social Welfare Board and the local Member of Parliament, who had helped he get a piece of land 100 sq. Metres, in the Moti Doongri area,

Not only did Gayatri Devi accept her request, she came and at the end of the small programme, announced a grant of (at that time) princely sum of Rs. Five Thousand to the school !

Inauguration of the NTPC Block building

Sometime in the year 2016, the government decided that the Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree course will be of 2 years duration instead of the one year that was then prevalent, and we felt the need for more classroom and other facilities. A need was felt for more construction within the available space. We approached various companies for CSR support to build a new block and found support from the power sector giant NTPC in New Delhi, where our Secretary Shri Gurdev Singh  had served in the beginning of his career at the time of the company's inception and had acquaintance is at the top of the organization. Eventually NTPC agreed to support us to the extent of nearly 70% of the funds required for constructing a new block, which was taken up and completed in the first quarter of 2017. This building was aptly named “NTPC Block” and its design and construction were completed in a record 6 months time.

We invited Shri AK Jha, Director (Projects) of  NTPC who had piloted the sanctioning of this financial support to us to inaugurate the new building and it was finally opened for use on 9th July 2017, which coincided with the 67th Foundation Day of Geeta Bajaj Bal mandir Sansthan. On this occasion we also honoured a few veterans who had served the institution in various capacities for long periods of time, as well as the architect Shri Ravi Gupta, who today happens to be our President.

Inauguration of the renovated Auditorium

One of the dream projects nurtured for decades by our founder Mrs Geeta Bajaj, was to build an auditorium for  her students in the campus itself, and she  had actually completed building it to the then prevailing standards by the summer of 1995. However, before the President of India late Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma could come and inaugurate it, in a disastrous fire, the whole auditorium went up in flames and was destroyed.

After a long gap of 22 years, her grandson Gurdev Singh took over the responsibilities of the Bal Mandir Sansthan and also took up the project of rebuilding a very modern, state-of-the-art auditorium at the same place, with all modern amenities as required now a days. Eventually, the completed auditorium was inaugurated on 6th April, 2018, by the well known and popular stage and music artist Padma Shri Shekhar Sen, also the Chairman of the Sangeet Natak Academy, in a glamorous function. It was christened the “Geeta Girdhar Sabhagar” in line with the wishes of the family of Mrs. Geeta Bajaj –  Late Girdhari Lal Bajaj was Geeta ji’s husband, whose sad and untimely demise at the young age of 21 years put the brave lady on a different track and shaped her future life in the decades that followed  her personal tragedy.
